I do not want to go softly into the night;
Instead, I would like to be thoroughly used up when I am done.
To burn as brightly as possible until that last flicker of light –
Leaving nothing but the memory, I gave no ground.
No sanctuary to the dark,
Providing a light to others…
a steady guide to show the well worn path
in the twilight of life.
